About the Speaker:

Racquel Villagante is an A&R Consultant with over 6 years of working in the music industry. She spent the last 3 years as SOCAN's A&R Representative - recruiting emerging Canadian songwriters, producers, and composers, facilitating collaboration through hosting songwriting workshops, song camps, SOCAN 101 talks, and helping music creators from emerging to established develop their craft, connect to industry, understand their music rights, and access their royalties. Prior to her career at SOCAN, Racquel worked as an artist manager, a teaching assistant, and an instructor at Nimbus School of Recording & Media, as well as worked as label manager for Business Class Records in Vancouver, B.C. In February 2020, Racquel co-founded “Womxn Rising”, the inaugural conference supporting female-identified, trans, non-binary, and 2-spirit artists and providing industry mentorship. Racquel believes in changing the culture of the Canadian music industry by supporting talent from underrepresented, BIPOC communities.
