The industry may seem overwhelming and intimidating but the purpose of the course is to break down these blocks, focus on your strengths and build your brand identity by tapping into the business life of a freelance fashion designer, Zoba Martin.

Session 1: Life as a fashion entrepreneur
This session will shed light on how to build on the skills you already have as a designer and determine where you might need to outsource as well as collaborating with artists in the same field.

Session 2: Brand Development, telling your story  
Here we will be discussing your brand identity, how you intend on telling your story as a brand and how this identity is reflected in all of your products and services.

  • Online or brick and mortar 

  • Ready to wear or Custom made designs 

  • Outsourcing 

  • Fast fashion or slow fashion?

  • Packaging 

  • Your brand’s  relationship with sustainability 

Session 3: Relating relationships with clients
Once hired by a client, you are being trusted to deliver. How do we make sure this happens from the beginning to the end of the transaction. This session will tackle and answer this question.

About the Speaker:

Chizoba Udeh-Martin, founder and owner of the fashion brand Zoba Martin began her journey as a fashion designer in the spring of 2016 after studying fashion design and pattern making at Lasalle School of Fashion Design. Originally from Eastern Nigeria, she moved to Canada at the young age of 16 to attend the University of Ottawa and graduated with a degree in Business. As an artist at heart, Zoba is committed to developing her skills as a designer, shedding light on the benefits of customized items of clothing as it relates to sustainability and also sharing her skills with aspiring designers.
