Intro to Silk Screen Printing (CS201-SP)

This course is for those who are new to screen printing for Textiles. It will guide participants through the process of Silk screen printing and the equipment available in the Textiles & Fashion studio answering fundamental questions:  What is screen printing and what is it used for? What different types of screen printing are there? What is squeegee durometer? What is mesh-count and how does it affect the print? Why use film? How does emulsion work? What does the exposure unit and lamp do? Participants will learn how to prepare a screen for exposure, expose a screen, print with pigments on a fabric using the studios textile print table and a stock image. Participants will take away screen-printed samples at the end of the workshop,  have an opportunity to ask questions about the process, their own work/ideas,  and time in the session to experiment and play. Members: Course Fee: $95 (inc materials of $30) Non-Members: Course Fee: $120 (inc materials of $30) Facilitator: Spencer HoughtonSpencer is a multidisciplinary artist and screen printer.
